EUC 3x3 Basketball 2025 wraps up in Salerno

The European Universities 3x3 Basketball Championship Salerno 2025 has finally concluded on Tuesday, August 5, with an exciting Closing Ceremony on the Fisciano Campus main court at the University of Salerno.

The ceremony united athletes, volunteers, organisers, and fans in a joyous celebration of achievement, camaraderie, and sporting excellence, giving all present the official invitation to gather again next summer in Salerno, Italy, for the European Universities Games 2026 - presented during the competition itself.

Over 250 participants (24 men's teams and 20 women's teams) from 44 Universities from 17 countries took part in this year’s edition of the event, together with 70 amazing volunteers and 50 staff members within the Organising Committee.

 

 

This diverse representation turned the Championship into a genuine showcase of European unity through sport, bringing together a multitude of languages, cultures, and traditions on a single stage.

In the men’s finals, the title of champion went to the first team of the Vytautas Magnus University (LTU), who won a controlled final match against the University of Valencia (ESP), successfully defending the title they had won for the third year in a row. The Lithuanian team consisted of Gabrielius Celka, Augustinas Mikstas, Titas Janusevicius, and Rokas Jocys. The Spanish team was made up of Arnau Font Fenollar, Pablo Luengo Mateo, Alejandro Bellver Valiente and Nedas Krisciunas.

 

 

In the women’s finals, the title of champion went to the team of the University of Seville (ESP), who won an exciting final match against the former champion team of the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University (UKR). The Spanish team consisted of Marta Garcia Mateo, Elisa Fernandez Rubio, Pauline Laurenson Cheynel and Ines Rios Rus. The Ukrainian team was made up of Anastasiia Shepeliuk, Olena Boiko, Veronika Kosmach and Anzhelika Liashko.

 

 

Both matches offered fierce competition, passionate crowds, and powerful emotional moments, leaving lasting memories for players and spectators alike.

The medals and awards were presented by EUSA President Adam Roczek, University of Salerno Pro-Rector at Sport Domenico Apicella, University of Salerno General Director Attilio Riggio, CUS Salerno President Lorenzo Lentini, EUSA Sports Events Director Liam Smith, EUSA Technical Delegate Jeanine Tijn-A-Sioe, EUSA Assistant Technical Delegate Martina Begic, and coach of the Italian national basketball team Andrea Capobianco.

The Championship showcased outstanding performance, complemented by strong values of sportsmanship, cultural exchange, and mutual respect. A dedicated team of local and international student volunteers was instrumental in the event's seamless execution.

Audiences also enjoyed cultural side events, warm local hospitality, and the celebratory atmosphere that enveloped the city throughout the Championship.

This year's event delivered countless unforgettable moments, from stunning comebacks and new records to surprise victories, both on and off the field.

The EUSA flag was passed to Agnieszka Glowacka, Representative of the Organising Committee of the next EUC 3x3 Basketball, which will be held in Gdansk, Poland, during the summer of 2027. This symbolic moment marked the official end of this year's Championship and passed on the responsibility and excitement to the next host city.

 

 

As the next EUSA 3x3 Basketball Championship will take place in Poland, all teams are in the meantime warmly welcomed to join the next EUSA 3x3 competition during the next European Universities Games 2026, when Salerno will be the epicentre of the university sports movement.

The five-day European Universities Championship, which took place in the University of Salerno Fisciano Campus, was also a qualification tournament for the FISU 3x3 Basketball World Championships in the autumn, for which both the men's and women's gold medalists qualified.

 

FISU is pleased to officially confirm that the 2025 FISU University World Cup 3x3 Basketball will take place in Brasilia, Brazil, from 14 to 16 November 2025. The event will feature 24 university teams (12 per gender) bringing together some of the best student-athletes from around the world for a unique celebration of university sport and excellence.

 

 

The Organising Committee was composed of the University of Salerno, Adisurc and CUS Salerno, with the support of Campania Region and the Italian University Sport Federation (FederCUSI).
